ORDER NOWYou Work for Yourself. Now What?
So you made the brave decision to work for yourself. If youâre like most, your desire to leave behind the W-2 life was driven by the promise of the freedom to work when you want, where you want, and on what you want.
But when were you ever taught how to work for yourself?
In school you may have learned about marketing and accounting, but unless you had a great mentor, itâs not likely you were taught what to do each day when you show up for work as your own boss.
This book fixes that dilemma by showing you how to live the Done Before One lifestyle where youâll learn to:
- Take control of the day and finish your most important work before 1:00 p.m.
- Align your daily actions with your bigger goals
- Overcome self-sabotage as you make positive changes in your lifestyle, and
- Enjoy your personal life without sacrificing productivity.
Whether youâre a solopreneur or a seasoned leader running multiple companies, you'll learn what no one tells you about how to succeed when youâre self-employed.
This is the book your competition hopes you never read, but your family and friends pray you do.

Each chapter offers valuable insights and strategies to overcome common challenges and maximize productivity. One principle that greatly speaks to me as an entrepreneur is "The Power of the Forecast" which introduces readers to the benefits of regular forecasting.
This book is a must-read for anyone seeking to unlock their full potential in the world of self-employment and applicable to all who wish to take control of their time. With its blend of practical advice, motivation insights, and real-word examples, the book offers a roadmap to success that is both inspiring and actionable."

This book has profoundly transformed my leadership journey. It's a true map to success! While aimed at the self-employed, its lessons are universal.
Many books emphasize routines but ignore the critical need to address deep-seated mindsets and practices. Once I broke free of bad habits, I gained the clarity to reclaim my time and establish effective nightly and morning routines. It also guided me to confront resistance and reshape my mindset.
Jasen's Quarterly Planner and Journal provide practical tools to implement these changes. If you're serious about escaping the grind and finding freedom, this book is your guide.

Done Before One has become my daily self-employed bible. As a long-time coaching client of its author, Jasen Edwards, I have benefited from his knowledge, experience, and insight into how to address the daily challenges of self-employment.
While Jasen's background in real estate differs significantly from mine in government relations and advocacy, the business lessons and principles of how to take control of our singular most precious resource - time - transcend. I laughed out loud at the start of Chapter 2, "The 10 Essential Done Before One Principles," in which the myriad of complex morning routine influencers are aptly summarized as almost impossible to achieve. I am probably never going to get up every day at 5 AM!
Instead, Jasen offers us another doable and effective path. His practical advice has been a game-changer for me. Using the Done Before One principles, I have shifted my primary focus and time from being the deliverer of services to being the chief lead generator, which has been transformational.
I have hit top-line revenue that I could have only dreamed about several years ago. Get this book if you need to answer that fundamental question: "How do I work when I work for myself?"

Jasen Edwards left college after two semesters and at eighteen began working for himself as a residential real estate agent. Surrounded by competitors, he had no choice but to figure out what it would take to succeed as a self-employed individual in a cutthroat industry.
During the first eighteen months, he only made one sale and $6,000 in commission. Then, out of desperation, he enrolled in a three-month sales training program where he learned the art of salesmanship. He outproduced his entire office of seventy-five experienced agents during that training program and earned ten times what he had since first being licensed.
Before he turned thirty, Jasen spent over a decade selling homes in Austin, Texas, achieved the distinction of being the youngest person ever listed on the Austin Business Journalâs Top 50 agents list, and graced the cover of REALTOR magazine.
He became the go-to guy in his company for agents needing help and began informally coaching people on how to master sales, control their time, and thrive in other areas of their lives. Eventually, Jasen realized coaching was more fulfilling than selling houses and became a performance coach and motivational speaker.
He mentored under industry legend and Hall of Fame speaker, Floyd Wickman, earning the rank of Master Trainer. In addition to coaching thousands of salespeople, he inspired and helped launch a nationwide training program for the countryâs biggest real estate company.
Along the way, Jasen spent several years being mentored by self-help guru and âfather of inspiration,â Dr. Wayne Dyer, who encouraged him to write and expand his message beyond the residential real estate industry. Jasen came to understand, with Dr. Dyerâs help, that his coaching work may have started with real estate salespeople, but the message was meant for a wider audience of entrepreneurs.
Now Jasen spends his working hours teaching self-employed people and small-business owners how to gain lasting control over their time, their activities, and their income.
His clients do what most think is impossible: they charge above-average fees for their work, enjoy regular time off, and experience the freedom they dreamed of when they first got into business for themselves.
In 2021, he released his first book, The Top Producer Life:Â Build the Real Estate Career of Your Dreams in Any Economy.
Jasen lives his own Done Before One lifestyle in Scottsdale, Arizona, with his partner, Jon, and their dog Hugo.
